Butel’s journey in motorsport began at the age of 14 when he stepped into the world of karting. He swiftly transitioned to car racing, making his mark in Formula Renault and the F4 British Championship. In 2017, the talented driver switched to sportscars, securing a win in the LMP3 Cup and adding two more victories in the challenging 24H Series.

The seasoned racer further showcased his skills in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe, participating in the World Final and completing a successful stint in the British GT Championship. Since 2020, Butel has been a formidable force in the BTCC, earning his first points in the series on just his sixth appearance. His prowess on the track culminated in a historic Jack Sears Trophy victory the following year.

For the 2024 season, Butel is set to embark on a new challenge, returning to sportscar racing as he makes his debut in the Pro-Am class of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB. The series features a different breed of machinery, with Butel taking the wheel of the four-litre, 510hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 992) car.

Expressing his excitement about the upcoming season, Butel said, “I’m thrilled to be joining Toro Verde GT for the Porsche Carrera Cup GB. It’s a fantastic opportunity to race in a highly competitive series with a team known for its commitment to excellence. The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is a phenomenal machine, and I can’t wait to test my skills against top-class competition in the Pro-Am class.”

The 2024 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season kicks off in April at the Donington Park National circuit. The calendar includes eight rounds and 16 races across the United Kingdom, concluding at the iconic Brands Hatch circuit in October. Motorsport enthusiasts can look forward to witnessing Butel’s transition to the Pro-Am class and witnessing the action-packed battles on the track throughout the season.

Toro Verde GT and Jack Butel are geared up for an exciting collaboration, and fans eagerly anticipate the debut of the Jersey native in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, adding another layer of excitement to the upcoming racing season.

Jack Butel:

“I’m massively looking forward to racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB. It’s always been such a high-profile series on the TOCA package, and I’m excited to jump back into a GT car again and see how well we can do in what I know will be a tough championship.

“The last time I was in a sportscar was early in 2020, but I think it will all come back to me quickly and I am aiming to be as quick as I have been previously, bringing home some trophies. This will be my first time racing in a Porsche, and I’ve not done any testing yet but that only makes me all the more excited to get behind the wheel and see what it can do.

“The real objective is to try and win the Pro-Am class with Toro Verde GT, and we’ve been putting in the work to hit the ground running once the season starts as we try to achieve that goal together.”

Jules Westwood, Team Manager

“We’re really looking forward to having Jack on board and we’re hoping to be in the fight from the get-go. It’s exciting to have him come across from a series like the British Touring Car Championship, and it means a lot to the team.

“It has been a while out of sportscars for Jack, but I think he should go well. He drove well in the Lamborghini a few years ago and he’s got more experience now in terms of racing and race craft in BTCC, so I expect he’ll be challenging for wins. We’re gearing up for a full-on attack on the Pro-Am championship with him.”
